Prenups and Marriage
According to AARP, the number of second and third marriages, as well as first marriages later in life, is growing and that population controls 72% of the nation’s net worth. Yet, in a 2007 survey taken by Thompson West (legal information company), 41% of respondents said they would likely refuse to sign a prenuptial agreement. Another 41% said they would probably agree to sign. The remaining respondents were unsure what to do. Prenups can be a valuable tool to use with second marriages in addition to wills and trusts.
